Cpl Maggie Susanne Birthe Sivertsen

(1912 - 1994)

Cpl Maggie Sivertsen was one of the Danish women who volunteered for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during the Second World War.

Maggie Sivertsen was born as Birthe Susanne Maggie Sivertsen on 18 June 1912 in Ølsemagle, the daughter of Ole Sivertsen and Sivertsen (née Maren Pedersen).[1] She grew up in Ølsømagle in a large family and in 1930 she worked a local factory (Dansk Afvulkaniseringsfabrik Køge).[2] She moved to the United Kingdom at some point.

Sivertsen volunteered for the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force during the Second World War (2003765).[3] The exact date is not known, but the service number indicate that it was in mid-1941.[4] In December 1942, she was attached to RAF Old Hall, Kimberworth, Nr Rotherham, Yorkshire.[5] There is no further information on the nature of her service at this point, but at the end of the war she held the rank of Corporal.[6]
