Details
Escort to 72 Marauders 2nd attack Ramrod 577 taget Gilze-Rijen Airfield. According to plan to target. P/O Cheeseman s a/c was damaged by own drop tank, and pilot baled out and came down in sea 10m. S.W. of Walcheren. Bombing results excellent, especially on hangars and buildings on W. of airfield. One large fire seen in this area. After bombing part of force of Marauders split into many small boxes dispersed over whole sky, making task of escort very difficult. Weather 1/10 low cloud, 8/10 at 13,000, thin. Visibility downwards excellent.
