Details

Target: Hamburg

10/10ths cloud, tops 5000 feet, visibility good. Target identified by red smoke puffs. Bombed at 0905.2 hours from 17500 feet, heading 024T, T.A.S. 202 mph, wind setting zero, on red smoke puff. Marking not sufficient and scattered. M/B was clear on VHF but left before A/C bombed. No results seen. Evasive action taken during camera run. Tactics were satisfactory but after considerable trouble from homeward route. Over land would probably have been safer. Gaggle was very tight. It was definately a scattered attack. Gaggle appeared to be out on timing. A/C attacked by ME.262, no damage to Bomber or claims on E/A
