A smiling and confident looking young man on a Spitfire wing; a Spitfire by the name ‘Skagen Ind.’ The photo was taken on 10 April 1942, the young man is Pilot Officer Axel Anders Svendsen. A fortnight later he is shot down and killed over Northern France.</p>
Sgt Jens J. Scott served in the US Marine Corps in the Pacific. He was victim of a kamikaze attack on USS <em>Bunker Hill</em> on 11 May 1945.
Else J. C. Berantzino was working as a cook in Middlesex, when the war broke out. She was one of the Danish volunteers in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during the war.
Christian W. Pedersen was born in Løkken, Denmark, in 1920 but emigrated with his parents to the United States at the age of three. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps just after the outbreak of war in Europe in 1939. He served in the USAAF for more than 30 years.
