12 a/c led by Major Gran, D.F.C. took of from base to patrol the Vire-Argentan area in support of 670 Halifaxes and Lancasters bombing target at 4858N, 0015W in waves. During ground straffing on road near Bernay Lieutenant L'Abee-Lund's a/c was shot down by flak. Fate of the pilot unknown. 2/Ltn. Marthinsen's a/c ran out of fuel and he had to make an forced landing at B.10 where the plane crashed. The pilot is safe. Bombing appeared concentrated. Intense acc. light flak was met with over woods near Messiden. Intense light flak 10 miles SW of Lisieux. All other a/c returned safely to base.
