12 a/c took off from base to provide target and withdrawal cover to 100 Lancasters and Halifaxes bombing M/Y east of Tours. 1 a/c experienced mechanical trouble and another had got his lower drop tank accidently jammed. Both a/c had to return to base and 1 a/c was entaitled to escort them. The all landed safely at base. Escort uneventful. Bombing appeared very concentrated. 4 a/c landed in France at B.2 for refuelling. The other continued their escort duties. Meagre inacc. heavy flak was thrown up from T/A. All our a/c returned safely to base. The Squadron moved to R.A.F. Ford to carry out its operational duties therefrom while the 132 Wing prepares itself and moves therefrom to the continent.
