Details

Take-offs during the night were delayed by to MUSTANGS gliding on the runway. Eight Bostons took off and one - BZ373 crashed on take off F/S Adams, navigator died of injuries; the PILOT, WOP(AIR)G and A/G were taken to hospital suffering from burns 6 injuries. The first aircraft reported extensive eastward movement on highway 6 but observations of later crews was restricted by bad weather which included 8-10/10 cloud and rain storms on the west coast. The areas of recce were ROME to cross roads F910635 and the area ROME-FROSINONE-TERRACINA. Targets bombed included the above cross roads where direct hits were scored also some transports at various points. No opposition. 14 x 500 lb. & 112 & 40 lb. bombs dropped.
