The squadron utilised A20G's operationally for the first time, two a/c making an armed recce of the coast road ANCONA-PESARO where a total of 25 M/T was straffed. The V.H.F. was well received.

Two Bostons [Henrichsen], reccing for shipping from PESCARA to ANCONA observed no active shipping and attacked the alternative target FANO rly bridge registering near misses. There was some rain and lightning on outward route clearing over coast of target area.

Nine Bostons took off on a recce of roads N. + E of ROME. One returned early with bombs owing to a confused recall signal intended for a/c on the E. coast.

The remainder bombed transport at VELLETRI, VALMONTONE and TERNI and started a fire at TIVOLI road junction.

Visibility was poor owing to much haze. There was no opposition. A total of 26 x 500 lb. + 128 x 40 lb. bombs was dropped plus 1,600 rounds of .50 ammunition.
