Details

Seven a/c took off on night operation from Pomigliano. Two a/c returned early with trouble - one on account of a broken aerial and the second on account of weather considered unsuitable for pilot's first operation in the West of Italy. No movement at all was seen on the roads and the remaining five a/c concentrated their bombing mainly on the alternative targets briefed; road/rail crossing at F.8339 straddled; hits on the towns of GENZANO; Albano including railway on North outskirts. One a/c bombed 20-30 stationary railing stock at station at F2383, two large explosions resulting. One M/T at F7579 was destroyed by machine gunning. No opposition. Weather Fair, extreme cold, ground haze over area. 10 x 500lb & 80 x 40lbs bombs dropped.
